- I became involved in the fire/EMS community in 1992 when I became a psychology issues writer for the former Emergency magazine in Redondo Beach, California. My assignments for 7 years revolved around stress in emergency responders and solutions to help responders copy and thrive in their challenging environments (at work). A lot of my articles focused on improving their personal lives as well.
