hey yeah, sorry it took me awhile to check this site, didn't have internet. but yeah i started about five years ago. i just went to a forest service station, met some captains and got there numbers. applied and just kept bugging them. after a year on a type 2 crew i decided i wanted to be a hotshot. ran my ass off during the off season and met some hotshot captains, did an agility test for them and got on. you can also do engine stuff too, whichever you want to get on. i work in region 5 which is northern california pretty much. feel free to write back if you got any more questions.

Hey Josh, Well... bad news. Since we conducted a class last year for those who were ready to move up, there isn't enough students to have a class. BUT, I've included a link to the Washington State DNR training sched. which give a few options & FREE classes. Sorry about that, Ric

My pleasure...always glad to help. By the way, THANK YOU for your service. I'm ex-Navy myself. As far as the FF1 class, I'll keep you infomed. If you find yourself needing a refresher class, we will be holding one in mid-late March...the FF1 should be about that time as well. Keep in touch, Ric
