Firearms prohibited unless the member is a sworn LE Officer. In the case of sworn LE, the weapon must be secured.
Note* I have been swon LE since 1982 and carried both while in uniform as well as off-duty..... Always secured the weapon in a locke...

I have made several trips to NYC since 9/11, including the incredible gathering of firefighters in October, 2002. Part of every one of those trips has included a pilgrimige to Ground Zero, Ten House, and after the opening, the WTC Tribute Center.

From my perspective after I don my "Law Enforcement Hat", the easiest solution would have been for both parties to meet up at the hospital, or back at quarters to work it out... The ambulance didn't in my opinion fail to yield.
