From what I hear, it's physical. Boot camp is tougher and always has been. Didn't emphasize P.T. as much when I was training the guys who trained the guys who are running the academies, now

I have another question is the academy as hard as boot camp

Your best bet is still to concentrate on the academy, then start EMS. You will burn yourself out too fast if you load up your plate. Try to keep a little time also for family and friends.

Thank you i will do that but i talked to someone and they said that most of the calls are EMT

focus on only the academy if possible, don't overload your plate, learn to curb and control your enthusiasm, do more ride-a-longs with both fire and ems as well as some ER time volunteering. you need to expand your experience but not at the expens...

Well welcome to the family.. You are like a child still in the womb. You will either love it or hate it there is no in between. And being a diabetic is definatly a challange in this profession my advice(I too am a diabetic) keep it in check always make sure your brothers and sisters know about it and that way they can know what to watch for fire will affect your levels and the more people that know the better. You hiding it is putting your life and theirs in danger. I have two on my dept that are diabetic as well and they do not take care of themselves. And I REFUSE to go in with them. Just cuz they dont care about their life doesnt mean I dont care about mine. Good Luck sweet heart

I'm disturbed by an apparent upswing in recent months in the frequency with which we see volunteer fire departments and districts being called on the carpet for an inability to account for how their funds are spent. This article in today's FireRes...
