About Me:
I'm 27 years old and I'm an EMT, certified through the PA dept. of Health working full-time at EMS Southwest. I love my job and I like everybody there. I'm a firefighter for the Monessen Fire Dept. No.2, Hilltop station and Carroll Twp Truck Co.63. I love being a firefighter, it's my favorite thing. I've been active with Monessen Fire Dept. since March of 2000 and I'm currently an appointed captain by my Chief Officers. I have the best parents and an awesome brother who is five years older than me. Family is the most important thing in life. I'm lucky to have a great family and good friends who I consider many of them as part of my family.

It doesn't take much to make me happy, really. I'm an easy going kind of guy and get along with everybody. I like to be around people and like to go out to have a good time. I live by myself in the house where I grew up and plan to stay here. I like trucks and own a 1997 F-350, and a 2006 F-250 Power Stroke Diesel.

I'm single and living life one day at a time. I'm the sentimental type of guy who loves romance and a good relationship that lasts. There's no feeling like having a special person in your life. They say that everything happens for a reason. Well, I don't know about that but I try to make the best out of every situation. For everyday that goes by, is another day I get better. I always try to find new ways to improve myself and never stop learning.
Day Job:
Firefighter/EMT
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Concerning volunteers:
1. Lack of training
2. Lack of interest
2. Limited manpower
3. Lack of funding
4. Ego trips
5. Politics
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
It has been a life long dream for me.

Its great that you have the need to discuss your opinion. If you feel passionate about a topic then you should feel the way you do. I only respect that. I may not agree with some of the things that were said, but you know that is my opinion. Not everyone is going to agree, but we all listen, and thats what make the service we are in the best in the world. We can disagree and still respect anyone that has the courage to bring up the topic. Keep doing what you are doing brother. The best things that people did throught out history are those who went outside the box and started to question things that were never before brought up. So keep your thoughts going, just realize that others are on the other end of it that just as you are very compassionate about serving in the service... take care, be safe and keep in touch...

I respect your opinions as im sure i have offended other people and i know where your coming from with the training. There is a company to the south of us that all you need to run for chief is 200 hours of training. So i know what you mean. But as for your comments don't worry about it.

Well I'm really hoping there is an EMT class offered around here soon.. I'd really like to do it..

MY dad does a wonderful job helping me out when he can & a lot of the guys on the fire department are very good at helping me.. along w/ some of the guys from local departments b/c i'm the youngest girl to be on the department in our area, so i'm thinking they are pretty pumped to have new blood involved..

i wonder if the titans will win this wk'end.. haha..

& yes, i used to play volleyball, run track, & i've played softball up through this year, but im unsure if i want to play this year.. i wanna be involved in the departments & making sure i have everything ready for college & such.. ya kno?

Yes, I would like to do EMT on the side.. I'm a first responder right now, but after high school graduation I plan on taking my EMT-B class.. Hopefully that will go well for me too, I believe that's a 150 hour class.

As far as my hair, I hate to cut it.. I really do. I'm going down to the station tomorrow before class to work with the instructor to see if I can get it, hopefully it all pans out! BUT worst comes to worst, my hair will eventually grow back out.. Now what kind of hood or nomax are you talking about? I don't believe I've ever heard of it, & what's the difference?

My dad helps me learn everything a lot quicker because when I come home we like to talk about things to keep everything sorted out.. It's nice to have someone at home that you can ask quick questions to or get a better understanding.. SCBA's with long hair do suck tho!

I checked out that site you sent me, that's absolutely hysterical. I never put two & two together.. I remember that game like it was yesterday when the guys stomped on that damn terrible towel, ohh boy was my dad upset!

Hope you had a good wk'end! :)

Well at least everyone is OK. That happened to another company earlier this summer, we heard it all go down on the radio while we were on a run. They had a 1 ½ story ordinary, working fire on the first floor. They struck the fire and were doing overhaul. 1 minute later they called a mayday and were asking for ambulances. They all got out with minor injuries. But it was a basement fire that took off on them when someone opened the basement door while everyone was doing overhaul. It all happened in a matter of minutes. The scary thing about that is that on a still alarm/ working fire by us you get 2 engines, 2 trucks , 2 chiefs, a RIT ambo, RIT truck, RIT Field officer, 1 Squad and a command van. That’s about 25 members with 25 sets of eyes but no one caught that it was a basement fire. And by no means am I knocking them, but sometime you get that tunnel vision and go right for the obvious fire and miss the fire that you cant see in the walls right under your feet. Be safe.

Hey Jeff

Sorry I have not responded for a while. Its been slow at work. Other shifts are getting fire, but it keeps missing us. I meant to ask what happened at that fire with your department. I’m glad to hear that everyone is OK. How did it get behind them?
We got beat into a fire the other day, I was pretty pissed. The shootings have died down. The drunks are always entertaining. You have a facebook?

Well I hope to pursue my future in firefighting & emt.. Who knows. I'd like to have other jobs besides.. But EMT on the side, along w/ firefighting! :)

It would be sooo cool to run into one of the players, that'd be pretty sweet! :) BUT I believe the Steeler's have a bye this wk'end?! Correct? Hmmm.. I forget lol. Anyways, they are the best! :) Jerome Bettis is one of my dad's favorite players.. "The BUS" LOL.

Class sucks, but hey, we all have to do it.. & my dad isn't my instructor for class.. One of my guy friends is though from a local community.. But my dad does do a wonderful job at helping me.. Just having troubles pulling my nomax up with my hair.. I'm thinking I may have to cut it, otherwise it gets stuck & there will be no way I can get my SCBA on in 60 seconds.. & We have to order me a new face mask b/c I can't get a tight enough seal beings my face isn't long enough.. Ughhhh all the problems, so frustrating & irritating!
Have a good wk'end! :)
Alyssa.. & thanks, it's one of my favorite senior pictures!

My dad is the Training Officer.. & I'm just a rookie!

It sounds like you've had a very busy life as well.. Lately I've been wiped out, like none other! It's insane! All I want to do is sleep & sleep.. did I mention sleep? :) Haha, just too much going on!

Steelers bars, ehhh? My dad would go crazy if he was ever given the chance to go to a home Steelers game! It's kind of a big deal to him he's a huge fan.. & again, I'm following in his footsteps! Besides Heinz Ward.. well, he's my boyfriend.. :) :) Hahaha.. he's my favorite Steelers along w/ Troy Polumalu (however the **** you spell it! Lol!

Well, have a good day! I'm just getting done with my classes at school, then I'm going to head off to work, tan, & then FF1 class.... yayhh goo me! :( Haha, have a good one! :)

Wow, that's out of control. Six priorities for emerg & non-emerg. What's your opinion on that? I work in Fayette County PA and we're either dispatched ALS or BLS but we decide how to respond.
