Hi Jasper:..
Thanks for stopping by! Awesome website you have. Be sure to see the book written about me, "Angel Promises." See www.karenleefitzpatrick.com and also read about me in John N. Maclean's Thirtymile Fire, Holt, NY in the section "Cards of Death." Have a really blessed week!--Karen Lee

Hey Bud,

SCFD was a great department as far as the people go and it's the highest paid department in the county. Not to mention awesome benefits. I just got tired of the BS and politics. Two years after I left, they got a new Chief and from what my buddies tell me, he has made a lot of good changes. He a no BS kind of guy. I still wouldn't go back. Even though they have a new Chief in place, the old AC's are still running the shifts which means the "good ol boy" system. I won't tell you not to go cause as long as you can get into one of the clicks, you'll do fine, well...once you get past the probie phase of things. I don't regret working there, I learned a lot and gain a lot of experience that I couldn't have gotten anywhere else in the county. I say I wouldn't go back because I work for Croft now and I never dreamed I would find a place where brotherhood existed. At the City it's every man for themselves especially around promotion time. At Croft it's the opposite. It is so awesome working there. Everyone for the most part gets along and the Chief is the BEST I have ever worked for! He puts his men...and woman (LOL) first instead of his budget or politics which is something I had to get use to and LOVE!
If I had good vision (20/40 uncorrected) I would have applied at Greenville City, they have awesome pay, even for starting postions but they also have some strict requirements like the vision thing.
If your are looking, try going to www.sconfire.com they have a job listing link for SC on there. I just oticed you are from Pickens so you probably already know about the website. That's cool you are down there where my in-laws are at. They live in Six Mile.
If you need any hwlp just let me know, I will do what I can. If you need some FEMA online courses to pad your resume send me an email to cityfire5082@yahoo.com and I will tell you which ones you need. ;)

Take care and I hope this helped.
Much Love,
Steph

Of course I always drive safely and utilize Due Regard. That's why I didn't just hop in front of the cars hoping that they would stop for me. It just irks me that people are either A.) THAT oblivious when operating a motor vehicle, or B.) That unc...

The incident hindered my response by a minute or so which could make all of the difference. In this instance - no, I still made the rig (it was an EMS call). However, the "What If" factor plays a key role - the other drivers passing me didn't know...

This is true. It's personally happened to me, I've heard horror stories about it, and someone I work with has even stated that she purposely does this as well. However, if it were her house on fire, or her husband and/or children that needed help,...
