Blair, I say the same thing. But ask those that have and have been sued.....It`s a sad sad world when you take time to help someone and end up losing your ass to a lawsuit. Insterad of "health care reform" why not some Tort reform?

Thanks Chief, I know that the Chief believes he's doing the right thing with his policy, and I agree with it in principle. The problem comes in practice in a small department that often has only one or two responders who might arrive several minu...

Well said Chief. Especially the 1st PUSH PAST! Even have seen that with other family members inside of someones home. Ridiculous!!!

The only thing that I will add to Chief Sharp's words are: Push past the ones who have their phones out video taping it. Push past the ones who don't want to "get involved". Push past the ones who are too busy or too stupid to help. Push past the ...

Darrell, obviously there is no end to this evolving issue. As long as there are lawyers/attorneys an money someone will be sued. I you or I attempt to render aid to the best of our ability we should be in the right. However, when we do that same j...

Darrell: I like to give "Chiefs" the benefit of the doubt, because I was one. A chief becomes a chief, in part, because of their decision-making skills. In this case, I would hope that he would realize the short sightedness of this edict and write...

How about an opinion on the converse side? My small, rural department just promoted our former AC after our long-serving Chief retired. The new Chief is a great guy, but his first act was to implement a "two-in" rule, which prohibits any responder...

Unfortunately, when I got my new appointment as Chair, I had already made commitments this week. As it is, I wouldn't have been able to be there anyway- as of today, my youngest daughter has got pneumonia (so much for commitments) so I would have had to cancel anyway. It's funny how things work out that way sometimes.

Just scanning my "friends" list and noticed you were on it (I guess I need to look at that stuff from time to time). I'm the new Chair of 1006 and (as a result) on the Pro Quals TCC. I'll have take advantage of this network to bounce some stuff off you at some point, which is the whole reason I got on FFN to begin with. Anyway, hope all is well- stay safe.

Thanks for the invite Curt. By the way, with your new job, do you have to wear a ballistic vest? I see a lot of very anti-NFPA stuff on the forums!

Curt Varone: I just returned from the Fire Academy in Emmitsberg and was very impressed by your wall of fame. Your recognition of 5 or so National Awards is quite impressive!

Hi Shaun: I lean towards the last name on helmet, but agree that it stinks that AFTER your effort the department changes it's formal mind. Speaking of using nicknames between ourselves, I never appreciated the impact when I would have "Killer" g...
