Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
Being a fireman has been a childhood dream, when i was a teen in the 70s I would follow the fire trucks out in the county where i lived to the fires and some times would help put out grass fires. But that was in the day when you didn't get into trouble for following the fire trucks. I was 42 when i joined the fire service and i have loved every minute of it. I love helping people who really need it. Being on a volunteer dept. its not the pay. Willard has a cadet program, which my daughter Miranda Lyn ,Phillips is part of, i am very proud of her, she is very active in the program. In Willard we have around 50 volunteers with 3 engines, 3 tankers, 3 rescues, 3 brush trucks, and 1 airal in 3 stations that covers approx. 80 square miles.

Wow - reading that article I'm thinking - "Is this New York State they're talking about?" I have to disagree - the first problem is getting people to join up. In many VFDs here that's as easy as filling out an application and paying dues. New mem...
