Profile Information

I Live: (City, State)
Treasure Valley, ID
Years in Fire/EMS:
My family started with I was 2mos old. I'm over 65 now! Active in the '60s, and now in Defensible Space education and Brush Trucks.
Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
I love to help people. Not into the Rah Rah aspect of Firefighting, but in trench type of service... and, to finding better ways to help people in need.
Relationship Status:
Married
Primary Fire/EMS Department:
Brush Fire
Department Type:
Other Response Agency Type
Rank/Role There:
President / Administrator / Commissioner, First Responder, Emergency Management Coordinator/Staff, Auxiliary/On Scene Support, Administrative Staff / Team Member, Other Emergency Services Staff, Retired
Dept. Web Site:
http://www.BrushFireDefense.com
Rank/Role at Second Department:
Other Senior Command Staff, Emergency Management Coordinator/Staff
Web Site:
http://www.ACTS1R.org
My Training:
Firefighter 1 - University of Maryland
EMT - University of Maryland
About Me:
Just an old guy whose family started in the fire service when I was 2 weeks old, and I just can't seem to get it out of my system. Now retired, but not tired, we are into several organizations that are Fire related: www.BrushFireDefense.com, www.SDPPhotos.com (we used to provide EID services for three FDs), and www.ACTS1R.org (helping to train people in a new assistance service for 1st Responders). My wife was an EMT/EMT Trainer (CA & ID(. So yes, we may be "over the hill" and on the downward side picking up the pace, but we are still supporting America's Fire, Rescue & Law Enforcement agencies throughout the United States. Oh, by the way... Yes, we drive an old folks car (1988 Lincoln Town Car) but people love our other vehicle - 1988 Ford/Horton Ambulance! We like Ford Products & older vehicles and just couldn't resist this unit that we resurrected from destruction!
Day Job:
See Above
Side Jobs or Other Organizations:
In addition to above, I take as much of the BHS Training that is available. Am active in helping to get our citizens CERT Trained. There is no need to for us Americans to not be knowledgeable about being prepared for the unknown. We can't expect emergency services to be able to help EVERY person if there was a catastrophic disaster. We have to be able to take care of ourselves and this includes 3 - 7 days in some cases. My wife and I provide Emergency Incident Documentation for several Fire Departments. You can find photos online at both: www.SDPPhotos.com or at: http://brushfiredefense.ning.com/profile/23p1jxhzab8aq. We have several thousand Fire & Rescue Photos. We do not post photos of accidents online in respect of those who were involved in the accident. We've documented extrication accidents as well as various other vehicle accidents.
Personal Site/Profile:
http://www.BrushFireDefense.com
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Safety, Training, & Communication that works - we don't need radio systems that have a 1 or more second lag time in transmissions. Life can be gone in 1 second!
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
I get to help people in need
