Just an ambulance driver...

Firefighter Challenge training. I'm too old for this s**t!

Allright, this being my first blog, I'll try to stay on task. I started strength training about three weeks ago for a Firefighters Challenge coming up at Cody Fire School in May. It will resemble a CPAT test and a few of the same challenges at the National Challenge (not as long of a course). I am turning 40 in June but dont feel it. I am in pretty good shape (so I thought) and am just trying to finish as close to the top 10 as I can. Chances are good because they appear to only have 8 or 9 guys… Continue

We are not sure yet if it will be good or bad. We were kind of hoping for a new turn on things. We will have to see how it turns out.

no prob heres where you can find a lot of tips and info on the challenge www.firefighterchallenge.com

my team had our first year last year and has the luck to have a coach that is on one of the top 5 teams in the world every year, we also have a tower with all the same things the real course has so we are pretty lucky... like you said its awesome that it forces us to stay in shape that way we can have better careers in the fire service GOOD LUCK!!!

yes actually i can give you a lot of tips on the entire course to help you out... on the keiser you always want to keep the front of the keiser block even with or 2-3 inches behind your heels, this will give you the best striking surface with the face of the hammer... the dreaded dummy drag, thats actually what i did in the relay, so its my favorite, when you get to the dummy reach down with both hands and grab behind his head, then sling his whole body up and without a lot of experience youre gonna want to hold his body up with a knee in the randys back, then shoot your arms under his armpits, you wanna shoot fast and low, burst up and out of the squated stance and go, make sure you have something to focus on when dragging randy and never turn around or you will fall!!! also dont slow down when transitioning from one event to the next... GOOD LUCK and no matter what make sure you dont quit!! let me know how you do... my team is beginning training for this year already so i cant wait to get started!!! the challenge is the funnest thing ive ever competed in!!! last year our team, Cincinnati State Cadets made it to worlds and it was awesome!!
