I feel for ya. Last couple of years haven't been too good for me either. It sounds kinda corny but there will be a light at the end of the tunnel so just hang in there.

Notes from a Rookie Firefighter...January 28, 2010

My days have been spent lately packing up my home, taking care of my kids' needs, and looking for a job. I wish I had more time to look for a job. I went to a seminar at the Career Center Tuesday at NJ Employment and the instructor told us a whopping fact - actually two facts:

1-Most employers look through thousands of resumes; and
2-Many more employers are submitting positions to NJ Employment to save on a recruiting fee.

I am hoping beyond… Continue

Notes from a Rookie Firefighter...January 28, 2010

I heard some sad news yesterday. There was a house fire in a neighboring town and a resident died and two firefighters were hurt. A few of us were talking about it later that day and someone said something I didn't know. Keep something in your wallet that if you are hurt you want to go to a particular hospital. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and firefighters.

Notes from a Rookie Firefighter...January 22, 2010

It seems my days are spent getting through the day until 4:00 comes and I go up to the firehouse for my Diet Coke and some comradary.

Since Thanksgiving, I have shed alot of baggage and made some decisions that will affect me the rest of my life. I agreed to a divorce, put my house on the market before we got foreclosed upon, and lost my job which I loved. Behind the scenes of all this "stuff" is the fact that my daughter has been missing somewhere in Atlantic City for almost four days. Doing d… Continue

Ho Ho Ho!

This is Tuesday, right?

Sunday was our Santa Run and my body still hasn't recovered. I rode on the back of a trailer in gear after our foot of snow the night before, handing out candy canes to families who came out of their homes. We also were met with many happy dogs who were tossed a biscuit by our energetic Brian!

Santa was in style this year in a brand new sleigh donated by the Butterworth Association. They put it on the trail… Continue

Hold your head up Denise, I went through a similar situation with job and divorce and rest assured it gets better. Keep busy with the fire department, kids and friends and you will be just fine. Good luck and keep safe.

Hey There! I hope that things are going well for you. I haven't been on the site much as of late. Lot's of studying for my EMT class. Only 2 weeks left. We have our "hands on" final on the 12th and our written final on the 17th. Man this has been a long class!

My name is Adel and I am trying to figure out what products are best for female firefighters. I have worked as a firefighter for only three years so I am just getting started. Currently I am a student at Eastern algerinne University in in the Fire & Safety Engineering Technology Program. Although I have only been a firefighter for three years I have had my fair share of small gloves that were still too big and pants that went up to my belly button! I was wondering if you could take the time out of your busy schedule to share some of your favorite/best fitting/most functional products for female firefighters. Weather it’s an awesome fitting pair of pants, A polo shirt that has sleeves that do not go down to your elbows, a pair of great gloves, or boots that have an awesome fit. It would be greatly appreciated if you could share your opinions with me. Thank you very much. Please feel free to e-mail me back at adel_pomper@hotmail.com or leave me a commentDelete Comment
