Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
I actually got into EMS when I couldn't get into nursing! I was had been a CNA for about 10 yrs when I decieded I wanted and needed something more. I started out in EMS in 1994. From day one I was hooked and felt like I was right where I needed to be.

My Training:
EMT Intermediate, Instructor, CPR Instructor, PALS-ACLS-PHTLS
About Me:
I began my role in EMS as a fluke. I couldn't get into the nursing program and there was a EMT course begining so I thought what the heck, I will try this until I can get into the nursing program. Well here it is 15 yrs later and I am still doing it. I love helping people!
I started out in EMS in Pulaski Co. IL. (Southern Tip of IL) I began as a basic for Pulaski County Ambulance. I took my Intermedate Class as well down there through Shawnee Community College. I moved back to central IL where I am organially from. I joined SELCAS Ambulance Service in Fairbury IL and was there 12 yrs. Before coming to Minonk IL as EMS Coordinator. I have beeb with this dept. for almost 3 yrs now.
Day Job:
EMS Coordinator
Side Jobs or Other Organizations:
I have two sons Justin (22) and Brandon (20), they have always been my "side" job. They come first in my life now and always! I have really never had or made time for anything else in my life, til now that is.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Unfortunately staffing. Volunteers seem to be becomeing exstinct! Sad but true. EMS has grown and is growing and changeing so much that the days of "Johnny and Roy" are long gone. We have so much more training required now, which makes it hard to spend your free time away from your own family.
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
Helping people has to be one of the gradifing things one can do in their life time.
