- childhood dream,family,friends, location of local station, across street of elementary schooland three blocks down the street from my house where I grew up. desire to help my community and friends.It's genetic my father and grand father were both vollenteer fire fighters with the Melrose twp fire dept.

- Boyne city ambulance 4 years currently active in Charlevoix co. previously 1 of the orginal 8 people hired with life link ambulance inc.in Petoskey,Mi the first 6 years in emmet co,now known as allied ems.also active with the Melrose Twp. Fire Dept in Walloon Lake,Mi.for 32 years as a senior Captain,fire fighter, emt first responder. and the Resort Bear Creek Fire Dept in Petoskey,Mi for 5 years as a firefighter and emt first responder.
- My Training:
- In 1976 at age 13 I became a fire explorer and as a boy scout became a arc advanced first aid card holder ,in 1979 I helped with the start up of our first responder , a new customized 1978 ford van I also drove our first fire truck a 1946 willies fire jeep to sell tickets for the sake of raffling the jeep In 1979 I sold the most tickets, boy do i now miss it, In April ,1981 at age 18 I was voted into my first fire and rescue dept the Melrose twp fire and rescue dept. I also helped get a set of Hurst jaws for our dept one of the first in two countys. I got fire fighter I in 1981 and ff ll in 1983,emt in 1986, paramedic training,Michigan fire instructor, advanced padi scuba diver,advanced extrication,acls,peeps,cdl-a ,fire officer ll, hazmat operations,fema ics 100,200,300,400,700,800 and lots more of fire and ems.

- hunt,fish,scuba dive,fix and restore old cars and antique tractors, take care of my two kids, ride bikes both motor cycle and bicycle,down hill ski.teaching fire classes. take old cars and tractors to shows and parades.

- caretaker for three homes in Boyne City,Mi. Northern mi antique flywheelers club(old tractor club)in Walloon Lake. 2 fire depts and a ambulance thats enough.

- getting new younger recruits, trying to keep up on all of the new required training.new laws and increasing liabilties of the job.
