You are right in being concerned. First of all if a fireman that was not medical trained was first on scene to a medical call how would that look to the patient or the patients family when the fireman could do nothing to treat this patient? Our de...

Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
I had joined our volunteer department as a firefighter because I had always wanted to do it and what an awesome way to serve my community! Then once I joined the department I realized the need for another emt so I went to school and am now a Nationally registered emt basic! What an adventure it has been!
Relationship Status:
Divorced
Primary Fire/EMS Department:
Mechanicsburg Fire Protection District
Department Type:
Fire/Rescue Department - Volunteer, EMS/Rescue Squad - Volunteer
Rank/Role There:
Firefighter / EMT-Basic, Driver / Engineer
Years With This Department/Agency

2nd Department Type:
Private EMS
Rank/Role at Second Department:
EMT - Basic
Years With Second Department/Agency
Two
My Training:
I participate in fire training here at our department as well as with mutual aide departments. I attented my emt class at Rochester Fire Department. What an amazing experience this has been!
About Me:
I am a 43yo divorced man. I enjoy most anything outdoors such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and frisbee golf. I enjoy watching Nascar and I also enjoy watching football from high school all the way to the NFL.
Day Job:
Transportation Specialist!
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Safety, safety, and safety! It begins as soon as the pager goes off. In the excitement of getting to the call sometimes the smallest thing overlooked can come back to haunt you. Also, at least in the area I work in is the low pay. I really think responders need to be paid better if they are working a paid job.
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
I am making a difference in somebodys life.
