Hi Danielle,I wish you the very best at LT because as long as you believe in yourself in life you will always be one of the best and don't ever hesitate to ask questions from fellow firefighters because at one time or another if your heart is in it you will find yourself moving up the the ranks but the best firefighters and Leaders are ones that listen to their other firefighters and always work as a Team because there is No I in Team.. I am sure you will be the very best. I have been a Lt and I enjoyed educating my men and women in the dept and having that listening ear because you can learn from one anothers ideas in life because always remember your fellow firefighters are as scared as you are when the alarm comes in but always work together and you will always do your best for the community and the dept. Brothers&Sisters4Ever, Your Friend Always,Hughie Just do your best in life!!

Hey we've moved up in the ranks. I really hope we can make a difference only time will tell. Thanks again for listening to my gripes the other day it helps to have someone who understands where I'm coming from. I'm kinda nervous about running the fire scene but with time and good support I'll be good at it.

I am currently in the last step of the application process with my home town Fire Department! The last challenge is to be one of the 12 picked out of a pool of 30! I like everything relating towards firefighting though, helping people, getting your hands dirty, working on stuff, fighting blazes, and last but not least and definately NOT the most important on my list but its kinda cool is girls seem to like firefighters. I don't know if they like firefighters because they are sexy as they would say, or if it because it is such an honorable job? If you can answer that one let me know!

Of course I always drive safely and utilize Due Regard. That's why I didn't just hop in front of the cars hoping that they would stop for me. It just irks me that people are either A.) THAT oblivious when operating a motor vehicle, or B.) That unc...

The incident hindered my response by a minute or so which could make all of the difference. In this instance - no, I still made the rig (it was an EMS call). However, the "What If" factor plays a key role - the other drivers passing me didn't know...

This is true. It's personally happened to me, I've heard horror stories about it, and someone I work with has even stated that she purposely does this as well. However, if it were her house on fire, or her husband and/or children that needed help,...
