This is Westbrook Maine---
Wet roads froze and turned to black ice. Engine # 3 slid off the road into this ditch.
The truck frame was bent up in the middle like a 1/3 closed jacknife.
Lucky it was a slow speed crash.
The driver was injured -but no...
Quite the mess. I hope everyone on-board was/is OK

- My training file is full of certificates from training that I have attended in my 45 years in the fire service.
The best training I ever got however was working with my brother firefighters. Every call is a new learning experience.
Going to the school of hard knocks is the best way to learn!

- Top Issues Facing Responders:
- Keeping up with the manditory training requirements in a small town volunteer dept is difficult and finding young people to stay on the department long term.

Full timers face reductions in staffing of equipment and this is a real safety issue.

As we are going into the holiday season now we are getting extremely busy. The weather man predicted a very dry Summer but you wont believe the down pours we have had and the accidents just keep mounting up.
