This is Westbrook Maine--- Wet roads froze and turned to black ice. Engine # 3 slid off the road into this ditch. The truck frame was bent up in the middle like a 1/3 closed jacknife. Lucky it was a slow speed crash. The driver was injured -but no...

Profile Information

Hometown:
Rangeley, Me
I Live: (City, State)
Rangeley Maine
Years in Fire/EMS:
45
Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
Being in fire/rescue is what I always wanted . When you can help someone that is beyond helping themselves it is a very rewarding experience.
Relationship Status:
Married
Primary Fire/EMS Department:
Rangeley Fire/Rescue
Department Type:
Fire/Rescue Department - Volunteer, Fire/Rescue Department - Paid
Rank/Role There:
Captain
Years With This Department/Agency
9
Second Department (if appl.)
City of Westbrook Fire/Rescue
2nd Department Type:
Fire/Rescue Department - Paid
Rank/Role at Second Department:
Fire / Arson Investigator, Captain
Years With Second Department/Agency
33
My Training:
My training file is full of certificates from training that I have attended in my 45 years in the fire service.
The best training I ever got however was working with my brother firefighters. Every call is a new learning experience.
Going to the school of hard knocks is the best way to learn!
About Me:
I am an old timer but still answer the bell whien it rings.
I want to keep on fighting the Red Devil till the day I die!
I hate it when the Red Devil wins.

My hobby is collecting firefighter pins, emblems, and badges world wide. (want to trade)
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Keeping up with the manditory training requirements in a small town volunteer dept is difficult and finding young people to stay on the department long term.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Full timers face reductions in staffing of equipment and this is a real safety issue.
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
FireFighters do not preach the brotherhood of man --they live it

Hi Capt, STUNNING photos, great music hahaha.
As we are going into the holiday season now we are getting extremely busy. The weather man predicted a very dry Summer but you wont believe the down pours we have had and the accidents just keep mounting up.
Have an awsome blessed day.

Hi Clyde,
I think you have me mixed up with someone else, (Doug Hamer from Riverview). I know Art Quint but I have not attended the convention you speak about. My FD patches are from the Moncton FD where I worked. I have a few extra patches should you be interested.
