I know this thread is a year old, but oh well, just in case this still applies or if there are other DC (or any military branch for that matter)out there with a similar question. I also was a DC2 when I got out and went to look towards a career d...

Welcome to FFN. I see you have FF experience on your profile so you must have some DOD or IFSAC certifications, those will convert or be accepted for NFPA Pro-Board civilian ceritifications. Depends on the state in which you desire to work in and ...

unfortunately, comming from the military does little for you as a paid firefighter unless you were crash crew while serving. If you can find a municipal department that will send you to school, then you must pass all the tests and that info should...

As an ex Navy DC person it comes down to the department you are wishing to apply for. Dallas Fire-Rescue gives credit points towards applicates with prior military experience. Some departments wish you to have IFSAC Firefighter I or even II. While...

Quick question for ya, why are you a member of The Iowa firefighters group? Only reason I ask is, I grew up in Iowa and moved to Colorado and now I'm in fire wondered if it's the same story with you ...

Hey!

My name is Amanda and I am trying to figure out what products are best for female firefighters. I have worked as a firefighter for only three years so I am just getting started. Currently I am a student at Eastern Kentucky University in in the Fire & Safety Engineering Technology Program. Although I have only been a firefighter for two years I have had my fair share of small gloves that were still too big and pants that went up to my belly button! I was wondering if you could take the time out of your busy schedule to share some of your favorite/best fitting/most functional products for female firefighters. Weather it’s an awesome fitting pair of pants, A polo shirt that has sleeves that do not go down to your elbows, a pair of great gloves, or boots that have an awesome fit. It would be greatly appreciated if you could share your opinions with me. Thank you very much. Please feel free to e-mail me back at amanda_cherry4@eku.edu or leave me a comment.

Stay Safe,
Amanda Cherry

my youngest is considering options as well as my oldest (18 and 22). my wife is convinced that all women in the navy will be somehow abused and taken advantage of. not to be shallow here, but from your photograph, you are strikingly beautiful, just like my wife and girls, but yet you seem to be holding your own, and enjoying what you are doing, and from Hawaii as your home port on top of it all. I liked you from the start. You've got both feet firmly planted on the ground girl. Your dad must be proud. (my perspective of course... a little biased...) Stay safe protecting our country Kelikea (Chelsea). Aloha, Mike

So am I to understand that you are working aboard a ship, perhaps being employed by the US Navy? I would like to find out more from your perspective so I can offer good counsel to one of my three daughters.

Mike
