Profile Information

Hometown:
Moulton, Al
I Live: (City, State)
Moulton, Al
Years in Fire/EMS:
8
Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
Family tradition. I was a "fire house brat" most of my life. My dad has over 40 years invested as a volunteer and as a fire marshal. After retiring last year from the fire marshal's office, he come out of inactive status to active. My brother started with the department when he was 16 and was in for about 20 years. Due to his job, he lives in a different part of the state and is no longer in the fire service. My real job is an ER RN. After a divorce I needed something outside of work and family. What better thing to do but give back to my community.
Relationship Status:
Divorced
Primary Fire/EMS Department:
Moulton Fire Dept, Moulton, Al
Department Type:
Combination Fire Rescue Department, Fire/Rescue Department - Combination
Rank/Role There:
Firefighter / EMT-Basic
Years With This Department/Agency
6
2nd Department Type:
N/A
My Training:
Volunteer FF, EMT basic, RN. Disaster planning committee for county and hospital. ACLS, PALS, PEPP, TNCC, BTLS, BDLS, ICS, NIMS, Radialogical Monitor, I think that's all
About Me:
EMT basic since early 80s. Nurse since 99. Fire fighter since 01. Should have started all this a long time ago.
Day Job:
RN
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Safety, physical fitness
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
It used to be the adrenalin rush. Now, it's knowing I can make a difference. My daughter's classmates see me when we go in for public ed. When they see me later, they refer to me as "that lady fireman". I wouldn't take anything for the friendships I've made in the department. People look at me strangely when I say I have 15 brothers .

Unauthorized burning is against the law and subject to fines.... most likely outside of our department. If it gets away from you and nearby structures are lost, you will also own all of that costs as well.

Recording the incident and having CISM in place are good post-incident actions. But unfortunately, not very good for in the moment in regards to your comment about the possibility of a victim not being rescued. So the police are pretty much respon...
