I joined the fire service to help those in need during times of disaster, even if its simply retrieving their family pictures from the wall of their burning home. Im here for whoever needs me. I dont need bars on my shirt or a different color helmet to make me have honor and pride in what I do. Im retired from the fire service right now while I go back to school and get my family situated, but I will be back doing what I love to do...

I have a 3 year old daughter named Isabella, and have been married now for almost 4 years. I love the fire service and all who respect it the way I do, and will be striving to bring back the standards of training and respect for senior members that it use to have, but somehow got misplaced...
But hey...If your daddy is chief and your last name has history in the dept you are safe for now. Bring back respect, and brotherhood...please.

Top Issues Facing Responders:
I will probably be stoned to death for saying this but I feel passionately about it and maybe it will generate some support for this issue; I feel that Firefighter I & II should be State License's and need to be re-certified every 3-5 years like the NYS EMT license's. Not enough people refresh their training and its scary...VERY scary, to see guys who took "Essentials" 20+ years ago but have not attended any further or refresher training and feel they do not need to. THATS one of the top issues I feel in todays fire service.
Lack of training standards, volunteers with not enough time to train properly that get doctored through the system and end up being Chief at the age of 25. Lost Traditions, lack of respect of the elders and officers, Manpower issues, and equipment issues.
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
I live to make others happy, and help all who need it, and I love the training, brotherhood, and the feeling that I belong.

Life Safety Initiatives, Should we or Shouldnt we Critique a LODD?

I have become quite familiar with the age old argument of "Is it disrespectful to talk about or critique a LODD or LODI when we were not there and did not know the specifics?" I think I may have some more info that could hopefully bring fruition to an argument that has been raging for far too long.

I attended a seminar last evening at my station put on by a very educated and experienced past chief from my area who also works for the Emergency Management Office and has been an Instructor since '… Continue

Lets Re-think the Future of Fire Training

Friends, Brothers Sisters, and everyone interested in keeping knowledge up to date.
I have a dream, and that dream is to have a Volunteer Fire Service that holds training and education on a pedestal and worships it daily. A fire service that understands the importance of continuing education and practicing BASIC skills on an annual schedule. A fire service that is no longer concerned with ego and image and is MORE concerned with the service it provides to its residents...Isn't that what we are h… Continue

Hi Brian - all I can say is don't believe eveything you hear! Doug was a great guy and an incredible fire instructor I took Incident command with him - I really miss working w/ him. CEO is a great job - at least thh concept, ruined by too many politics where they don't belong - I wish you luck with it.
I see some posts about Glen Ridge in your profile - what is your tie there? We sponsor a car there - #17 Tommy Varin (I am ECLIPSE Overhead Doors) at the track most every Friday! Small world!! nice to hear from you

Hi Brian, It wanted in these so special days, to give the thanks for all it received, to build a place where can be with all my family and friends, those of fence and the from a distance. The ones that have accompanied me always and the of now. Those that I see each day and the ones that seldom Find. The ones that have accompanied me in the difficult moments, and the of the happy hours. Those to whom I know deeply, and those to whom I know barely by their appearances. To the ones that without wanting I wounded and the ones that without wanting they wounded me. The ones that owe me and those to whom I owe them a lot. The same old they recalled, and the ones that at times are forgot me. You want to recall to all the ones that passed through my life and to desire them some happy festivals, that can find the peace that need and to enjoy the love of their families and of those that love them. That the Hope, The Love and the Peace Flourish for all You…

I never got a chance to take a tour of the station. When I got to the station the engine and ladder were leaving, but I walked to the back of the station and the bay door was open so I snapped some pictures. It looked just like it did on television. I also took some pictures of station 110 and boat 110 in Marina Del Ray which was featured in a few of the episodes as well as the Steel Inferno movie. I took those pictures with a regular camera so I still have to scan them and post them here. I also got to meet the cast down in Hyattsville Maryland when they had the Project 51 where they brought the restored squad 51 to the smithsonian for display. I have a poster autographed by Randy Mantooth, Mike Stoker, Tim Donelly(Chet), Marco Lopez and Ron Pincard(Dr Morton). I then met Randy again 2 summers ago when he was the guest at a fire department picnic at one of the fire departments here in Monroe County. The picture that is on my profile is from then. I also had him autograph my replica Squad 51 helmet. I also have the code 3 station 51 with the squad, Crown pumper and Ward LaFrance pumper. I am also a member of the Los Angeles County Fire Museum Association.

I see you are another Long Islander that made your way to Cobleskill FD. I saw you were with 2-9-0 Northport KEF577. I used to love listening to some of the dispatchers from there. I grew up in Kings Park but volunteered for Commack Ambulance(2-16-0) I volunteered for Cobleskill FD Rescue when I went to SUNY from 1988-1990 Had some good times there. A whole different world from Suffolk County.

Man that sucks. We can actually have dispatch get ahold of PD if a car passes us while running lights and sirens if we have a plate number. If the cops can't find the vehicle, I think they send a ticket in the mail. I think.
