About Me:
Still at school im in year 12 (6th form). Considering joining the NZ Army or the NZ Air Force as a Fire Fighter, join the New Zealand Fire Service as a Career Firefighter (PAID) or join the NZ Police maybe. Want to become a Prinicipal Rural Fire Officer and Emergency Management Officer sometime down the track.

At fires im mostly on the hose as number one or number two. If not im helping out with the "Mop-Up" stage which means searching for hot spots and putting them out. but then again it depends what fires we get called to, what i get told to do at the scene/fire ground and what the fire is doing.

Firefighting has been on my mums side of the family for years with my Grandad being a Volunteer in Bulls (years back) getting his 3 year certificate before he passed away, One of my uncles and his two sons has been involved with the Bulls Fire Brigade as firefighters with my uncle getting life membership before he left, My other uncle was a RNZAF (Royal New Zealand Air Force) Fire Fighter based at RNZAF Base Ohakea for a few years. I think thats where I get it from.

Pagers

Over here NZ Fire Fighters (both urban and rural) respond by alpha-numeric pagers. Even the paid fireys, the station alarm goes off then all there pagers go off. A good idea i reckon.

Do any other fire departments/services do the same international?

LOL we had around 40 for this month so far as of sunday at our meeting. It's picking up for us, and we're on mutual aid lists for alot of our local districts outside our own. I do have face book. Let me find you a link really quickly.

The lil one is doing well, my chief said he will give him a unit number making him our youngest member. LOL.

That's almost the worst thing that can happen. The anxious feeling of waiting for some action only to not get it! It's good for society, but boring for us.

Haven't been on in a while. How ya been? You can check my blog for all the baby info. and what not. It's quiet a bit as it wasn't a routine delivery. My doc said I was the most difficult OB case he could handle without calling a specialist in.
