This is for everyone who spends the majority of their time at the fire station, spends more time with fellow firefighters than your actual family, or are so close with each other at the station that you might as well be family.

This is such a great discussion. There are one or two suggestions on here that I have never thought of...maybe just because I've never encountered the situation. But as far as some uses for the halligan, we use it for anything we can think of. - b...

I Live: (City, State)
Bellevue, PA
Years in Fire/EMS:
Less than 1 year in fire service
Why I Joined the Fire/EMS:
Firefighting runs in my blood. Several generations on my dad's side of the family have been firefighters for Bellevue, now my dad is the chief, and my brother is also a member. It was only a matter of time before the girl of the family joined. I have grown up around firefighting, and it has always been something I've wanted to do. Now that I've joined, I've come to realize that firefighting gives you a sense of fulfillment that I've never experienced before. Also, the trust you feel among your brothers is indescribable.

About Me:
I am a 19 year old female. I am one of only 3 active female members in my department of 23 active members. I am a full time college student, part-time pharmacy technician, and a full time volunteer. I spend the majority of my days at the fire station. I have been a firefighter since January of 2009, I know it hasn't been long, but I've seen and learned so much more in these few months than I have ever thought possible. But the brotherhood that I have become a part of, I wouldn't give it up for anything in the world.
I Love Being in Fire/EMS Because:
there is nothing like working side by side with some of the bravest (or craziest) people you know, and the reaction of the community to see a young woman on the fire scene is unbelievable.
