I'm excited to see more and more women joining the fire service. I was the second woman on my department in 1993. It was a rough time my first few months. But then I proved myself and the men new that I could hold my own and that i could do the job by working and proving it! Now we have 3 more women and they work as hard as I do and the men respect them too. Good luck to everyone and be safe. God Bless!

Hello everyone,
I love seeing other women in the fire service. I have been on my department since 2000 and love it. I am the only female and did have to prove myself to the guys at first. We all work together and I love my guys. Currently I am 2nd lt. and secretary. My husband has since joined and love fighting fires next to him.

I am one of 2 active female firefighters in my company just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. But I am rocking it just a well as the men. I am one of only 2 people at my station who is Firefighter 1 certified. (me and my 1st lt.) I already am a BVR tech, and will be an EMT in December. Not bad for joining in January. But most of the guys didn't think I'd be able to do this job as well as them because I'm a girl. But I've certainly shown them otherwise. To all of my sisters out there- keep doing what you are doing. Being a woman in the fire service isn't easy at all, but if you can do it, then more power to you! Be proud of yourselves. Stay safe everyone.

The municipal fire station of Antigua Guatemala, requires sponsors to continue to fulfill this 3 November 5 years of foundation. We have many friends to help us get equipment. The only woman to drive pumps at the national level is working with us. It's official and director of the station.

Hello everyone,
I am an officer of the Municipal Fire Antigua Guatemala. I have 27 years of belonging to the institution. I tell them that in our barracks there are more women than men and many of them are officers and members of the central directory. There are journalists and members of the urban search and rescue.

I got my FF level 2 at age 42. I vowed that I would not be a firehouse widow, so after my son went into the Navy, I joined the local dept along with my husband. He's been doing it since he was 17. I made some of the women mad because I wanted to fight fire, not stand around and watch. Some of the men wanted to help me all the time, but my husband told them to get out of the way and let me prove I could do it. I'm 51 now and still lov'n it!

Hello everyone!!
I've been a firefighter since 1993. I was the only woman on each department. I was Assistant Chief of my first department, secretary/tresurer of the second, and love being "just" a front line FF and secrtetary on this department. Nothing is more rewarding than helping others!!
Stay safe and much love to all my Sisters!!!
