I'm looking for some leadership programs ( 5 or 6 classes)... maybe the usual cookie cutter programs people have had success with, or one off the beaten path that works. I'm trying to put one together but I'm not invent the wheel over if I don't have to

Try a class on Fire and EMS management techniques in small Depts.

Are you looking for your own benefit or that of your agency?

Not sure what you have in your state, but in New York we have FASNY (Firemans Association of the State of New York) they host training seminars around the state throughout the year. They bring in guest speakers from arround the country. if you have such an organization try them, offer to have your agency host it. PR opertunity for your agency, and gets suurrounding agencies to togethere too.

If it is for you, look into the National Fire Academy. Attend your state weekend there. They also have VIP (Volunteer Incentive Program) courses. Best of all, it is FREE. You have to pay for the meals. I attened my state weekend this year and hope I am selected to attend again. I thought the training I received was excellant. Couldnt get that kind of education from my company or county.

The National Fire Academy has 3 classes Leadership I,II,III. If you have someone who can teach through the state academy you might be able to get the to teach those classes. The Georgia Fire Academy has adjunt instructors like myself that can teach classes. I have taught the NFA classes to all my personnel and have started teaching it to the volunteer department around here as well.

Are you still looking for a leadership class? Are you looking to teach one at your department? If you are looking for one to conduct at your department I have a situational leadership class that I will share the lesson plane to. All you need for this class is an old military movie called "12 O'Clock High" with Gregory Peck. E-mail me amnd let me know.....
