For those of us that are dedicated to being volunteers, happy working other jobs to make a living. It doesn't matter if you don't want to work full time as a paid firefighter, or the competition is too high for that high paying (hah yeah right) job

Comment by Jean Hall on August 11, 2009 at 2:26pm - My hometown -- Brookville, PA, population 4,500 -- is planning a 3-day celebration to commemorate the 100th anniversary of its volunteer fire department. It will be held September 17-18-19 of 2009. We're trying to get as many congratulatory cards and letters for the department as we can. Comment by Leonard (Rusty) Endicott on June 10, 2008 at 2:48pm - Thank you all for letting me into your group. I started my unpaid career at Va Beach Division of fire and was there for two year. When I was discharged from the Navy I moved back to St Louis. I missed the job so I moved outside of St Louis to Imperial MO and joined the Shady Valley Volunteer Fire Dept and have been there sence 1974.
