I am Truck Officer on a 1987 LTI 75' straight stick rear mount with a prepiped water way. She's old but still truckin' and we love every bit of her. We know her reverse lights don't work and her speedometer reads that she is going 35 mph at all times even when parked or in reverse. We know that her left turn signal sticks in the on the position sometimes and that when you use her air horn, it bleeds off the brakes. We know these and even more of her problems, but we love her anyway and we are honored that we are allowed to be a part of her history. We are scheduled to get a new piece with the next grant, but whether or not that happens or not...we are still happy to be her escort to each and every dance.

Hey Brother Irish Truckie, I have to agree with you, We do, do it better.
I went from driving a 100' Tiller truck up in NY, to driving a 50" Squirt
down here in SC. My department here in SC gave me the nick name of
Truckie, I love it. Mickey

Hey Guy's i'm no longer on a truck co.....because my new co. does not have one, but i spent 11 yrs on ladder company in Hillsdale NJ Ladder 31...now Tower 31 original truck was a 1961 Maxim 75 ft stick. refurbed in '84 retired in '99 for a ALF 93 foot tower, with 2000 gpm pump and 300 gallons of water. both trucks were great, I'm especially fond of that old Maxim spent alot of time on that stick,

I just love how the engine companies think there is no need for a truck company. But when it comes to the dirty work of overhaul who's the first ones they look for. I'm no longer a member and past captain of a vol truck company in NY. Would never have belonged to another company.

This is somewhat of a rant, but also a haven for other people to share their stories correlating to my post as well. Granted, POVs where I live are NOT designated emergency vehicles, we are allowed to run blue lights as a courtesy light. Generall...
