Ethan, just practice practice practice. You'll learn your own way to gear up quicker each time. And yeah michael I agree with Justin. Just always be observing what they're going. And pick their brains. If they're a lot like the "black hats" at my dept, they are pretty standoffish but they love answering questions and it will show them you're interested in what they have to say and that you're wanting to learn. Which will start building more trust. Stay safe!

michael, something that helped me get ahead was to talk to some of the veteran guys on the dept. listen to what they have to say and just ask questions.

im fixing to start my mod 2 and npq 1 classes so im getting ready for the fun and hands on stuff maybe not too much lecturing and more burning lets get r done ive been waiting for this we will be using a propane burn building so its not a "real" red dragon but its close enough and if something goes wrong someone can shut off the source.

push ups! lots of upper body strenghtening workouts, probably do a bit of running and generaal exercising stuff. just stay in shape really--you are gonna want leg strength and lots of upperbody strength. try out some core workouts and cardio-vascular stuff too because breething is important too- the longer you can make your air last the better off you are.

Hi, I just got accepted into the fire academy here in Orlando, Florida. I will be starting FFI in Oct., I have my NREMT already so that is why Im not taking the EMT part. What would anyone suggest as a way to get fit or stay fit for the academy? Routines and programs of all sorts are welcome! Thanks.
