I am a past company officer, back at the rank of Firefighter but still serving as both a Deputy Training Officer & Safety Officer. Saw some of the discussions here and thought they looked like a good way to exchange ideas. Let me know if it is OK to be in this group as a past officer or not.

Okay the photos above,
1) Too many whackers on the roof two with no packs
2) Overloaded roof, and why is the white hat up there?
3) There is nothing wrong with the 3rd photo, thats what the yuppie a@#hole gets.

here's on for ya....At KCFD 44 we use 3 1/2 reduced to a 2 1/2 on the side towards the fire, and then we use a gate on the side away from the fire. We don't use the steamer unless we have a mutual aid company taking a hydrant. Kinda like back in the day of the old village hydrants.
DAVID WHITHAM Comment by DAVID WHITHAM on March 23, 2009 at 8:29pm
the hose thru the car is a classic and cant tell you how many times i've done that. and to add insult to injury a 100 ticket to boot lol
Jeff Gaudio Comment by Jeff Gaudio on March 19, 2009 at 1:51am
We hook up the 5" LDH on the steamer and put a 2 1/2" gated wye on one side and a 2 1/2-5" adapter on the other side of the plug. The adapter is kept attached to the LDH with the hydrant wrench tucked inside & the hose folded for a quick operation. The hydrant bag is kept in the engineer's side lower rear compartment with the adapters in it.

This question would probably do better being posted on the JEMS sister site but I havn't gotten around to creating an account there so I'm posting it here. Yesterday I had one of our newer firefighters ask me if it was ok to use adult AED pads on...

Some good points... some not so much. Let's not get into details. lol I understand that this was just a rant and I respect that because I have written a few myself. One important thing I have learned though is not to make generalizations about the...

Ummm... yeah. I'm a little confused about what you want us to say here. If you want my opinion about freelancing on a fire-scene, then ask me "whats your opinion about freelancing on a fire-scene?" And I can tell you in one short sentence-- Its st...
