no disrespect, but I did not know the LA Co wore traditional leathers. I thought that most of the brothers in California wore the West coast style helmets(sorry, but I do not know the proper name for them). Nonetheless, thanks for the insight.

shareef, I am pretty Ian stated early on Thats sometime after 9=11 leather traditionals became approved as a symbolic jesture of brother hood.. Though nt typical La issue, some guys supposedly opted for them... San Fran traditionally has always worn Traditionals and I getthe feeling thatcomes from traditions brought west with the 49'ers and orginal growth of the city, having quite a few of the cities orginal Firemen were NYC pre civil war of course and pre paid

I have a sticker on the back of my helmet in place of one of the tetrahedrons that is in the shape of a mosque with"Allah on one side of it and Muhammed" on the other side. Yes, I am muslim by faith.

ones replaced with the skull and irons, another with a superman shield, a third with a fighting irishman. I always replace all the original tets with ones I order, the 3M lime and silver ones. I never like the originals, so I order those, just because I like the way they look, both on the helmet, and when I'm inside in the dark everyone seems to be able to see me a lot easier. Not real fond of having people lose me in the dark!!

Check out what my son a firefighter does with solid leather and with older used helmets and an air brush. He has only been painting for about 8 months and hand carving and painting the shields since March. www.brentscustoms.com

I replaced the standard tetrahedrons with green/silver/green triple trim ones. I have some other "buff" stickers underneath those, ranging from the skull with crossed irons, to a Saint Andrew's flag. I just bought the Everybody Goes Home sticker at the National Memorial service, so that will be replacing something.
