I have a Sam Houston that is going on 10 years old. I has been beaten and heated numerous times. It's like a timex. My other department I wear a 1010 that is about a year old. Leather will outlast that thing by a mile.

I had a Morning Pride Ben II and the moment I got my leather, the Ben II went on the shelf lol

When I got on the job, I'd been wearing a 5a for 15 years (actually 2) and own a N5a as well...the department was issuing 660 wheelchocks ... I talked to my training chief and he was adiment about wearing issued gear but since the department Had yet to get my Boots, or bunker pants and I was wearing my own , He didnt have much ground to justify my Never wearing that POS... I never pushed the issue .. nor did "they" for a while My n5a was inspected and was actually better then some of the lids on the line so they were as afraid to get checked as anyone :) some times its good to work for dinosaurs .... long as you know what the scoop is ,...

in my 6 years in the fire service ive had two different leathers. ive had a 2003 n5a that i put into service for about 5 months than i sold it. and currently i have a 2005 sam houston which im not gonna let go. and both ive bought used. the new yorker i bought for 350 and the sam houston i bought for 365.

I'm wearin an N6A. Started out in a metro, then helped our department switch to Morning pride. We went to 1010's then, and when I left the department, I kept mine. Now that I am sponsoring my own gear, I splurged and got the N6A, and I think its the coolest piece of gear I have ever had! I got mine on ebay too, and I probably spent stupid money, paid 445 for it, but I really wanted one!

I have an Cairns N5A New Yorker for f ive years, and before this I had an N5 for 20 years. I would not be without my leather helmet it is the best

Right now, I have two N6A helmets. One is for sale. Brand new in the box, with ESS innerzone goggle system and silk screened eagle front holder, color natural. All tags attached and original packaging.

Wow....I feel a bit outta place posting ....My Leather is a Paul Conway and I love it! Been a great lid so far. It bought it new and I have had it in service for about a year and a half now.

I have a N6A, I bought for 225, and the bummer is I can't wear it due to color? Its black and I was just appointed chief so go figure.

So put a white shield on the front! My last department had all black 1010's and rank was indicated by black shields for FF, orange for Lt.'s, red for Capt.'s and white for Chiefs.
