I guess I'll start a discussion in here. Been way too quiet.
Went to Scotland in 79. Was there for 9 weeks. Loved it and the people are so nice . Plan on returning and going to the Highlands which is where my family clan Sinclair came from. Isle of Sky is mentioned in my family history as well. Talk to me Ladd's and Lassie's!
Have you been to Scotland and what is your family heritage or clan?

Been there, almost born there. Lindsay Clan.
What I remember most about the Isle of Sky, was how clear the water was. You could see stones on the bottom

I would really love to go the Scotland some day. The Nicholson Clan also traces their roots to Skye.

I have not yet had the opportunity, but a Scotland vacation is at the top of my Bucket List.
My ancestry is Clan Bruce, whose home is in Edinburgh.
The clan motto is "Fuimas", which interpre
ts "We have been". (It's Latin for "Been there, done that", I guess)

I've been able to trace my lineage directly to Sir Robert the Bruce, which is kind of cool.

Ben.

Highlands.
You must be a fancy guy then.
My family is from the lowlands.. we were pretty much peasants. But, we were the ones raising the most hell in the wars back then. I like to remind Irish folks that my ancestors pillaged their gardens and stole their women and children when I get a chance. Ah, the fun of being Scotch Irish.

Thats Funny stuff. I have a very dear friend here that is moving back to Scotland after 30 years here. I presume she is going back to die and probably wont last long after she goes home. However, I hope to go over and see her before she does. I have friends there too. I was in a group that went there in 77. One of our group stayed there and still lives there today. I wish I would have stayed but ha a girlfriend here and decided to come home. Dumb move. She dropped me when I got home. Had several Scottish Lass's that woul have taken me in a heartbeat if Ide stayed. Oh well!
I love it over there. Some day I hope!

My wife and I both have family history in Scotland. Her family is Clan MacKay from the Highlands, she has it traced back to who came over, where they went, and who their children were. She is the NC Commissioner for Clan Mackay, for all of the Scottish Highland games in NC. My family is a sept of Cummings, and I think they may have moved to France as Lords, then moved back to Scotland ( still working on my history ). We've never been to Scotland but would give Love to go, friends have told us the best time to go is when it starts turning winter over there. Is this true???? Anyway Manu Forti, and Always were your seatbelt !!!!!
