Hey Grant welcome, when did you guys start it up? seems Like Az and the whole SW has jumped on the "band" wagon I'm surprise more guys arent here, But there are lots of FD band guys on both Myspace and "faceplant" and there area few FD band specific sites out there (overthe last couple years too) Whats the official name of the band?

hello Jim, On Firefighter nation, this is one of 3 "pipeband" groups each was begun around the sametime, None are extremely active but occasionally someone pops in..generally speaking your neck of the woods Pipe and drums in public safety has a lot of interest with bands in Charlotte, Wake& district and atlantic beach , and there is a group that was Trying last I heard up around Greensboro though I am not sure if they are proceeding or what, and as you can see The brothers in South Carolina have also been trying with some difficulty...In the last two years theinternet has broughtfor the first time sites that highlight Fire service and public safety Pipebands specificly really for the first time... the growth has been extrodinary

Eddie , In any bagpipe group I can tell you That One in five will not survive the riggors Of the process, Its time consuming to learn as well as time consuming to Continue to play and travel to do Jobs , thus taking a rare Individual Committment "Using" recent events in your general area to a) gather interest in doing and b) getting funds is the most important thing you can do its Not easy..even on the Nation, we have 3 groups, related to pipe band, and have about 6 or 7 total actual members whoplay ,have played etc.. Have you been to my forum? at times even that gets slow, But I have 190 people who are with the exceptionof two or three folks are all players and Band members from all over the world..

I know at one point you guys were considering getting the Cops involved Am I correct? even after Charlston, interestis waining? then you guys who are committed need to get proactive... get involved in the state association/honorguard ask them for support contactthebig departments contact the county groups, in anysocial group you will find"joiners" avoid them, and ween awayfrom them and get DO'ers , many guys will do it, if they see something ,BUT wont "Make it happen"...

One example of this is the emerald society of DCFD that tryed several times to geta band together and it wasnt until, September 11th, 2001 that the brothers finally were able to actually do that and make it stick... Your issues are even bigger because Your group is "less cohesive" setin a region of the country where the populace is less "ethnicly irish" in many ways then in other areas, means you reallyneed to step itup a notch... make things happen, Eddie write me , where are you guys? howmany interested, where you are standing, do you have instructors? anyone playing yet? etc etc...
