Hi I can't wait to go to the Academy again this year. It's such a great time. Those people that are going for the first time will have the time of their life. For the rest of us regulars, we already know what a great time we have and why we come back every year. Can't wait!!!!

Hi SHALL:

You don't have to go for the whole week. Many just go for the weekend, others go just for the class or two that they are particularly interested in (could be during the week). You only need to preregister for the courses for which you get state certification. Most other classes you sign up for at the check-in table when you arrive at the academy. The fact that no one has gone from your county is even more reason for you to go - you'll have the chance to meet others from around the state who are probably feeling the same way that you do. It really is a great opportunity.

I want to go to Montour Falls, but im a little bit scared because no one has ever gone from my county, and im a little shy, also, the packet confuses me a little bit. Do you have to go for the whole week or only when you want to...Im excited...

Hi! I finally got on FF Nation. People were telling me about it at last year's Fire Service Women training weekend. I am signed up to go this year. Taking Mask confidence and alt. fueled vehicles. Anyone else signed up to go?

Fire Service Women of New York State Training Conference

The FSWNYS training conference at Montour Falls is coming up! Third week of September. For information you may go to the OFPC website or to the Fire Service Women of New York State website (www.FSWNYS.org). Open to all fire and emergency service personnel. Great training and great networking opportunities... And reasonable, although your department should pay for it....

Email me with your mailing address and I will send you the application. My email is: alsc683@optonline.net
Or - you can go to the website and click on the email link for phoenix and send your information that way. Either way I will get it and can put the application in the mail to you asap.

Re: Phoenix Firecamp -

Don't be scared that you don't know anyone. I am the Camp Director and I can tell you that many of the campers last year initially felt the same way. But they all ended up having the time of their lives! Most all of the campers don't know anyone else at camp when they walk in the door, but by the end of the week, they have become the best of friends. I still hear from campers today about how much they loved camp and how things are going for them in their departments (many are junior volunteers, but some have no experience at all).

All I can add is to get your application in asap if you would like to attend! We only have spots for 24 campers. If you have any more questions about camp, please do not hesitate to ask.

Eventually, if you beat the dead horse into a froth, it becomes the equivalent of protein foam and you can use it in your foam truck... Well, you could use it if you've been trained to actually operate the truck, and you're not too "too uncomfort...
