Ray is currently the chief of the Topinabee (Michigan) Fire Department as well as a retired battalion chief from the 4th Battalion of the Chicago Fire Department. Before his retirement, Ray was and still is a field instructor for the Illinois Fire Service Institute as well as being an independent instructor.
