Well, after deleating my department info in the narrative once because I was timed out when I cut, pasted and clicked save. I finally made the deadline for the grant with 16 hours to spare. Good luck to everyone and I would like to hear your stories.

Our department applied and I'm very hopeful for all of us. Since 1991 I can remember us discussing the idea of a new station, so this is a LONG time coming. We already have the land purchased in our township name, we just need the building.

The current station isn't the worst in the world, but we're just crammed in like sardines and could use more space. Honestly I think we have two very pressing matters that should be considered for our department

1.) The building isn't tall enough, so whenever we purchase a new truck, we have to worry about height restrictions
2.) We're located at the point of two one-way streets, with each of those restricted in two different directions. So we're either a.) going up the wrong way or b.) driving down a narrow street into a busy intersection where it's hard to see

Best of luck to you and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you as well as long as you do the same! ;o )

Subject: Info on Fire Station Construction Requests

We have learned that the unofficial number of grants submitted for fire station construction is 6013, with a total requested value of $ 9.76 billion dollars. Given that there is $210 million, there is a significant gap between money available and funds requested.

This is FYI only, and numbers are not official from the AFG office.

sorry to say but our dept. was not able to put in for the station grant. After going through to outline for the application and talking to our grant writer we were not far enough along in our construction planning to even try for it (didn't own the property, no permits, no architect or plans ect, ect, ect.)
