its been awhile but I have always used the OTC Monitors and the snap-on version as well

Will it do diesels ?

Mine will do any vehicle with an OBDII port (generally 1996 and newer). So it all depends on the year Chuck.

I should mention that the Actron that I just bought, you can update vehicle information via the net, hook it up and transfer information to your computer, and you can look up codes and troubleshoot problems right on the unit. I am very pleased with my purchase.

There are some that wont do diesels . Where did you get it ?

Mine will read codes no matter what, as long as it is an OBD II vehicle. I bought mine at Advanced Auto.

i wrench for a living and you can never go wrong with a snap-on modis.it also doubles as an electronic scope and never fails.they tend to be very pricy but effective none the less.a cheaper and also highly effective quick code reader is the OTC Stinger
