There are many of different things that one can do to raise money for there department if they have the time to put things together. I am in the process of putting together an Comedy night to raise money for my departments burnout fund. I really isn't that much work to get something like this going. All that you need is somewhere to host it and people to come. We are going to do ours on Feb. 13th 2010 and already just by word of mouth we have almost 100 tickets sold without even advertising it anywhere and we only have 300 tickets to sell. We are going to have a dessert bar for people if they want it and also have a no host bar. We are charging $20 a tickets and after everything is done we will profit over $3000 which is a good amount for a burnout fund. Next year is already in the works and we are going to go extrication equipment but we are going to have a dinner and show so the profits will be alot more. I have some more ideas and will post them soon. If anyone has any question please email or commet. The Comdey night if all free until the night of and then that is whe you have to pay for everything so not really to much out of pocket for the department.

New guy here! EMS day job and volunteer on a very small, very rural Rescue. No station, 8 members, a 15 year old Durango as a "response" vehicle (that is parked at a member`s house in the center of our coverage area) approx 130 sq mile coverage area. We all respond in out personal vehicles. We are strictly "medical" rescue. The tools and any specific extrication or whatever speciality rescues are done by the local FD. I`m new to the area, I`ve yet to figure out why the local FD "doesn`t DO rescue". (their own words). No formal training, we handle that on our own. I would greatly welcome any funding ideas that I could pass on the the chief. He`s on that 'local FD". They seem to all think reascue is an unwanted step child.......sigh.....Largest city in the county, largest FD in the county yert they don`t "see a need" to have rescue within the city. On the ambulance, in my home city, we`re "on our own".

Our biggest problem is that as costs go up our budget goes down...it was $18,000 two years ago, but we got a new mayor (who happens to be a social member of the dept.) and he "re structured" the budget...
