Funding Fitness equipment

does any one know where a small department can get good but cheep AKA Free equipment i herd you can get surpluss equpment from the goverment and all it cost is the shipping to get it to your department has any one out there done this and how did it work for you how did you find the list of equpment that is out there
we have some members interested in getting fit and could make room for the equipment but do not have the funding to get started any help geting this going would be great
