I have a simple and quick recipe.

1 each, can of pinto beans, stewed tomatoes and tomato sauce

1 lb of ground beef (cooked until browned)

1 packet of your favorite chili seasoning

Mix all together in pot and simmer for about 1/2 hour.

Jalapenos mixed in are optional

Top off with diced onions and shredded cheese

PS A bowel of chili is what you get after you eat a bowl of it. Hopefully it doesn't hurt. TCSS

Billy, look in the Firehouse Cookbook section....I've posted one there. It won our department's cookoff and I make it every time we come back from Live Fire Training. It always draws a crowd.

P.S. True chili doesn't have beans!

Award winner right here. Makes a large batch!
4# ground venison or whatever, browned
4 cloves garlic
1/4# butter - simmer the garlic in it
5 16 0z cans diced tomatoe
3 cans chili beans
2 4 0z cans chipotles
2 bottles of Leinies Summer Shandy

Saute the garlic, add the meat, then start mixing in the remainder. Let it cook on low heat for as long as possible, to get the flavor and heat to pop.

Is it just me or do some people not take this job seriously enough? I am by no means an old hand at this job, but it seems that lately incoming firefighters don't quite seem to realize that our profession is, in fact, a dangerous one. I get that ...
