We are casting an ambitious new television series, Underdog to Wonderdog, a show that pairs abandoned shelter dogs with deserving families.
Guided by the expertise of some of the best canine trainers, vets, and groomers in the country, these shelter dogs will be transformed into gorgeous and playful pets, then placed with loving families who have been carefully selected for each dog.
...And not only will the pooches undergo an amazing transformation - so will the families and their homes with a special DOGGIE EXTREME HOME MAKE-OVER that insures the home and family are READY to welcome their new canine member.
Right now we are casting families and are especially interested in casting a firefighter and his/her family, crew or firehouse.
Above all else, we are looking for caring people who have a lot of love to give and are truly serious about giving a shelter or rescued dog a forever home.

I agree with Denise , so many animals in the pounds, being from the tri state area Connecticut often we see our local pounds and Humane Society's support each other... The North Shore Animal League (Long Island) often takes many many strays and does a wonderful job, often they "redistribute" to other areas To give all the animals a better chance at being adopted. The Sad part, Is That for those who Rent rather then own Its nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get a pet freindly rent in the area, Which creates a bigger part of the Problem with animals being given up,and even abandoned,because folks who have animals just cannot deal with spending months and months trying to find a pet freindly rent, often after a breakup or job change moving and life is stressful enough, add to this pets and often they get dumped off.... its a real shame on any level of the socio economic scale..

Wow! what a great program, I live in the west so this doesn't really apply to me but, I will say "Attaboy" to whoever thought of this. I work near an Indian Reservation and I have seen dozens of dogs and cats "dumped" for whatever reason, it is truly heartbreaking. I have 2 dogs, both strays, and both were in pretty bad shape when I took them in and both have turned out to be really good dogs. Great Job to whoever!!

I think this is a great idea, especially as someone who has 4 rescue dogs in the family. My newest baby is just 5 months old and had a really rough start. Some heartless person locked him in a shed and left him for dead. No one knows exactly how long he was there for but when he was found he was half frozen, extremely malnourished, very low blood pressure, and they thought his tear ducts had froze. He was only 10 pounds, now 6 weeks later, he is a very happy snuggly puppy who has gained 23 pounds, and no lasting effects of his trauma except separation anxiety (he just hates it when his "mommy" leaves him...lol) but all in all, he is just a wonderful little guy and I would totally recommend to anyone to adopt a rescue dog. These dogs absolutely DO know when they have been rescued and they show how much they appreciate it in so many ways...so if you can PLEASE take in one of the pets, you will never regret it....

Nancy that is awesome. I actually cried reading your post both sad and happy that you took him. I am a huge dog lover and my Bob was due to be put down the next day before we rescued him.. I can't imagine how they can do it. My dog is wonderful. Very well behaved, smart, and he is soooo loveable. They just want love and attention. And boy do they love giving it back... I can have a bad day but when he is so happy to see me it brightens my day and whatever reason for the bad mood is gone after being with him.

The individual that attaches the exhaust system hose is yes, taking on more "exposure" than the rest of the crew but the exposure level is far below the STEL or the TWA. The real issue with not connecting the hose and just backing the truc...
