I'm looking to get started. I had written a few items for the fire department news letter. Our Department also uses the guys who are writters a PIO for the news paper. It helps sell the Department and keeps you in the public eye. I would like to hear from anyone who is doing a story fiction or book that is non fiction. I was at FDIC and there were a few publishers that are always looking for some nono fiction on specific subjects. A few of our guys get practice submitting articles for Fire Eng. and Fire House. Have a safe week

Just looking for friends, tips, pointers!

I write a lot of fictional stories based on past calls, but I work for Jones and Bartlett and have authored a number of textbooks with them.

I have co-written, with Robert Murgallis, two books published by Fire Protection Publications and numerous articles for various fire journals. I agree that "persistence" is the key to getting your work published, but it also helps to really know the subject area and be able to describe it on paper.

I was going to ask what one needs to do to become a member of this esteemed group.
I see that I was in the express lane.
More later.

Cool idea, Louis. Thanks for starting the group. Let's share our expertise, ideas and suggestions. Not to mention our fears, frustrations and angst. lol

I write a lot. More than 350 articles published. I also have a few small books. Key to writing (besides the ability to put together and organized coherent thought) is: persistence.
