Backwoods08 I was trying to get feedback as to what others felt . Maybe the one who started FFN will check this out and fix the problems or issues people have. I only started this group last night so it is a new group but I was just curious. I feel it is a place to praise the site and vent to the dislikes. I hope this answers your questions

Out of the 20 some groups I joined this one is the only one that seems active so Denise Co 29 what exactly is this group to be used for and are there limits to the topics?

Very nice of you Michael. I am not as much as an addict as my male friend is. He is on I swear morning till night. I almost feel I need to get my own computer lol. But this is what he loves and I don't hold him against it. Like I said the only thing I don't like is that I have joined a few groups that intrest me and the is no activity. I just wish they would delete the groups that are not having any activity. I love joining in discusions because I am still learning like most of us and there are some really great topics. There is alot of great knowledge on here.

PART 1: "Hello... My name is Mike and I am addicted to the FFN..." OK... so there's the first thing. I don't think I have to say much more about this. I'm surrounded by fellow addicts and enablers...

PART 2: You get to make friends and sometimes share expertice... http://www.firefighternation.com/forum/topics/mutual-aid-from-3000-miles

PART 3: You get to make friends and sometimes share resources such as PPE... My buddy Mike Vito in the Phillippines was wearing minimal protection for structural firefighing PPE. A hardhat, overalls and contractor leather gloves is not necessarily the cat's meow for PPE... Just before Christmas, I gathered up used but excellent condition PPE for both structural and wildland firefighting. Yea... I said goodbye to my helmet that I wore when I was a firefighter but how cool to know that you might be able to keep someone else safe instead of hanging your helmet on the wall...
So... I get this phone call from Mike, all the way from outside Manilla (actually Pasig City) and heard that Mike was on a structure fire involving a metal corrigated tin roof. When Mike was pulling the roof down, a large pool of molten asphault rained down onto Mike's back... He didn't even know about it due to the protective quality of the PPE turnout jacket and firefighter helmet. Without having the appropriate PPE, Mike would have been burned very badly. Instead, he had a wonderful Christmas with his family and thanked God for he and I crossing paths on the FFN. I guess it was pretty much worth the $380.00 in shipping costs to send a 45-pound box to Manilla. Just ask Mike.

So there you have it. FFN is fast becoming a wonderful networking tool for those who take the time to take advantage of the endless possibilities. I've only been involved with it since I blew my knee out on a wildland fire and had surgery. Good use of down time... Now, as I first mentioned, the FFN has become a part of my daily routine. Are you an addict too? :P

TCSS,
Mike

This site is a whole lot better than FireLink, more control
I have met some super nice people, but then there are those who think they are to good to talk to anyone, but thats anywhere.
I do enjoy the discussions/meeting new people here
Everyone have a good/safe day, & everyone goes home
