Teri, I have experienced this in my day job.."The good ole boy sydrome" seems to be alive everywhere you go. Our Cheif gave us some good advice during a department chrisis, he said "What angers you controls you"
Please don't let anyone discourage you from what you do best. If you do then they won and you will be the only one to suffer. Hang in there time changes everything...even grumpy men! Love ya, sister!

I have been pretty luck with the men on the depts i have been in accepting women in the dept. I have had people on the street ask my why i would want to be a psrt of a fire deaptment and some older folks think that it is a mans job and women should not be apart of the fire service. I tell them i love my job volunteer or not, i love to help others and my community. I am very proud of what i do everyday.

I am a firefighter in the south and it is 2009 and still I work with men that refuse to accept that I am here and here to work and do my job. Does anyone else face this problem?
