The following are step by step instructions for listening to the Edmonton Fire Rescue Services using the default media player on your computer as well as instructions explaining how to login to the EFR Chat Room using a free program called HydraIRC.

- Download HydraIRC (free download) from http://www.hydrairc.com/download.php?file=HydraIRC.exe

- Install then open HydraIRC

- You will get a popup window asking if you want to create an identity. Click yes.

- Click on User Identity and select new

- Enter an identity description such as EFR Chat Room

- For the real name, username and nick fields I just entered my IRC username that I would like to use. The Identd username and Identd os fields I just left blank and then clicked ok

- Click on Scripts toward the bottom of the list. Under Command Profiles, enter irc.edmontonfireradio.com_OnLoggedIn then click ADD

- EFR Chat Room should be highlighted in the profiles box. Under commands enter the following:

/join #edmontonfireradio

- Click OK

- In the upper left corner there is an icon for New Server. Click on this icon. A connect box will open. Click on Add Network.

- Network Name is Edmonton Fire Radio. The Preferred Identity just leave at use default. Click OK

- Now click on Add Server

- Under Description, enter Edmonton Fire Radio

- Address is irc.edmontonfireradio.com and leave the port at 6667

- Network should be Edmonton Fire Radio, Priority Normal. Leave the password and verify boxes blank and click OK. This will take you back to the Connect box. Click OK. This should connect you to the EFR chat room with your correct username.

- At the top of the main window, click on favorites then click on add to favorites, then click on OK. Now, any time you want to login to the room open the program, click on favorites, then click on #edmontonfireradio.

To listen to the FD audio while using HydraIRC to connect to the EFR Chat Room, just click on one of the following links to listen using your default media player.

Jeff are you aware of the Amateur Radio Firefighter group. I thought you might be interested in that. You were kind enough to introduce me to firefighternation I thought I would share that group w/ and maybe you would like to join. Stay low and go maybe after the hollidays i can meet you up on HF. Im having such a hard time w/ my General. OH and think of some ideas for a Amateur radio club for firefighters. There has been a comment or two made about a net . Stay safe out there.
