Chris,

Mp3 players, cell phone chargers etc, won't do much for the electric motor of a hybrid. There are studies which indicate those electronic devices might cause activation of un-deployed SRS systems. Most manufacturers say no, but as a general rule, we remove and isolate the ignition key and any device which might be charging.

When you are talking about cable color, high voltage cables are Orange for electric hybrids, an Industry standard. Hydrogen fuel hybrids are using blue hoses from the fuel cell to the engine.

Here is a site with good information.

http://www.sceneoftheaccident.org/ Todd Hoffman puts on a very informative class on not only hybrids, but supplemental restraints.

There have been a string of accidents involving the new smart car down here, but not alot of info on this model. The cage sits very close to the pt, i'd appreciate any info or personel experience removing victims or unknown hazards. All my incidents have resulted in ejection, i dont have extrication time on this model.
Thanks

hey guys this is to save lives by highlighting the dangers of NVT i have a little bit of info the biggest thing so far that im finding is that alot of the power cabels are now orange but there is no standerd so the deadly power cabels could be any color also some one be ba able to varify this that even an MP3 player plugged into a hybrid can back feed the system enough to allow the power from the larger battery to stay in the system after the 12v battery has been cut which should have disabeled the larger or higher voltage battery system
