We all wear our hearts on our sleeves and we are all willing to do what it takes to get the job done when it comes to saving a life, protecting property and stopping bad guys.
September 11th, as tragic as the day was, was a time in history where it became clear to me it was time to create a level of unity never accomplished. It was time to ignore politics and cross cultural boundries to flush out our differences--come together--and stand as one.

This is why I began the 9/11 Patch Project back in Dec. of 2001 to create unity through the development of a 9/11 Tribute Patch, raise funds for related non-profits and bring something positive out of one of the most tragic days in U.S. history. It has worked--the participation of over 5000 organizaitons in 22 countries validates this.

Along with the fact that, we shed blood for eachother die for eachother. Some wear vests and some carry guns, along with we get to use power tools and save lives

How about the use of ranks. My county use military ranks for officers in both police and fire. The highest rank is Colonel for Chief and they wear Eagles on their sholders while the badge has bugles. I guess the safety director has the star on his sholders.

Hadn't really thought of that with the 9/11 Patch. It is meant to be a tribute patch for all uniforms and all ranks. I guess you could look at it as the one common patch we all would wear that is more about creating solidarity among emergency and military personnel. Thanks for the comments!

That's great. My daughter just turned 3 in August and she likes it too. So does my 5 yr old son.
