In Woodbury we have red and green. What do you have? What do you think of the different colors?
Should there be a standard?

They tried to make a national standard in the late 70's early 80's of the ugly yellow/green fore safety purposes...never happened. Personally I like the traditional red. Our dept. has all red except one truck tha twas purchased in 1980 that still has the yellow.

Watch it Mike...............LOL, we've got those "ugly yellow/green trucks but I like them more than red just because it's something different and you see red ones everyday.

Plus red is for stop and green is for go, so Mike you can be the back up team..........LOL:)

Back up team huh?!?!? I don't think so. :) Anyway, yes other colors on the apparatus do make them different and the firefighters tend to take a pretty determined stand for whatever their department has. My old department took delivery of a rescue shortly after 9/11, we had the truck painted black over red and was dedicated to the brothers that gave all that day. After that there was an attempt to change all of the apparatus to match, never passed though. Check out Rescue 3119 on either of the links.

I know this is going to start something (Again)....We have bright YELLOW trucks...its a tradition here and we have gotten to like it...(I think because it is so different)...Our neighboring departments tell us that we don't have any firetrucks....only school buses are yellow......so we respond that Red trucks get you to the fire....BUT, it takes a YELLOW one to put it out.....LOL actually there is a department not too far off that has purple ones......Stay safe and keep the faith......Paul

Here where I am from we have mostly red in our county. Most of the guys here are guilty of saying "real fire trucks are RED" but we have also white/Blue up north and Yellow/Green to the south.

Ours are RED
