U.S. Fire Administration

The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official line of duty death of Fire Chief Jimmie Zeeks, 54, of the Marion Township Rural Fire Department on August 15, 2009.

Fire Chief Zeeks passed away from an apparent heart attack while in command at the scene of a serious motor vehicle accident. Members of the fire department immediately started life saving efforts. Chief Zeeks was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injury.

Funeral Arrangements:
Viewing from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on August 18, 2009 at Mitchell 1st Church of God, 12th Street and Oak Street. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on August 19, 2009 at Mitchell 1st Church of God.

Memorials may be made in Jimmie’s name to Marion Township Fire Department, c/o Chastain Funeral Home, 705 W. Warren Street, Mitchell, IN 47446

My thoughts to his family and colleagues. Just goes to show, how important firefighter fitness is. R I P brother.
