Oregon Firefighters Make Rescues at 2-Alarm Apartment Fire

WILSONVILLE, Ore. - Firefighters have rescued four people, including an infant, from the third floor of a burning apartment building in Wilsonville.

A Tualatin Valley Fire spokesman said no one was injured Wednesday in the two-alarm fire at the Sundial Apartments.

Lt. Doug Napoli says the first fire crew found residents on two balconies calling for help. The crew raised ladders and plucked four people to safety. Rescued were two adults, an infant and a 6-year-old boy. Four units on the building's third floor suffered heavy damage from fire and smoke.

Says firefighter Genaro Esparza, "A firefighter can go an entire career without actually rescuing people from a burning building. This is something we'll all remember for a long time."

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
