NBC-Los Angeles cut away from Memorial for 2 LA County Fallen Heroes to show a Poker Tournament

Dear NBC President and Employees,

I am writing to you to express my dissatisfaction with your coverage of such an important event to Southern California residents and firefighters. You stopped showing the memorial service for the brave fallen heroes from Los Angeles County Fire Department, Capt. Ted Hall and FF Specialist Arnie Quinones. Even though you gave links to other channels at 11:00, there was no link for people with Dish Network or Direct TV. I am appalled that you would break away to a poker tournament that was recorded. The work that was done to risk firefighters’ lives during the Station Fire to save your equipment on Mt Wilson was unselfish. The thanks that firefighters get in return, is a poker tournament so that your greed for commercial money is number one. A lot of firefighters could not be at the service today because they have to be on duty to still protect the citizens of California, including you and your families. The disrespect that you have shown the fire service that protects you day in and day out is incomprehensible. Was showing a poker tournament to collect commercial money really more important than to show your respect and gratitude to two Firefighters that gave their all for you worth it? I hope the next time you meet or talk to a firefighter that you bow your head in shame. It was important enough for the Vice President and Governor to speak but not important enough to let others that could not make it there pay their respects. I will bet money your flags are at full staff at NBC because of your disrespect to not just these two firefighters, but the whole fire service. I will make it my duty to let it be known of your actions and shameless act on such a sad day for the State of California’s Firefighters. I am also sending this to the California Professional Firefighter’s and the International Association of Firefighters. Remember this, we as firefighters will continue to be there for you no matter what, no matter what situation. Sleep well tonight.

The sad reality when one looks a this objectivelly Steven is that the memorial for firefighters is not seen as a ratings puller for any station, especially given the very small numbers that would be watching it.

I applaud you putting pen to paper, but I don't beleive it will do much good....

I take it your not from Southern California. There are alot of citizens very upset about this. Must remember its not about ratings but to pay respect and thanks. Especially since we saved all their television equipment on the mountain so they could keep showing a poker tournament. there is a push that every Public Information Officer out here will not give NBC-LA any attention or at least give them the last oppertunity. Its a sad day here.

Unfortunately Steve, I bet there are more concerned about the poker tournament than the memorial.

it is very sad, but most ppl care more about money then anything..that was all they was worried abt... if they would not have showed that they wouldnt have been making money..

another very sad thing is that most ppl would rather watch the poker run, because they dont care.. alot of ppl do not have respect for the firefighters and what they do..

it is just a bunch of selfish ppl out there, who r only out there for thierselves and money...

sad isnt it..

R.I.P to all the fallen sisters and brother..
